Buttons is a personal logging app. This page describes exactly what it stores and what it does not.
What is stored
- Your email address, display name and a hashed password. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and are never stored or logged in readable form.
- The buttons you create, using the names you type.
- Every tap: which button, when it happened, an optional note, and which account logged it.
- Your settings: timezone, week start, time format and theme.
What is not
- No advertising, and no data is sold or shared with anyone.
- No ad trackers, no session recording, no fingerprinting. The only third party is Google Analytics, used to see aggregate usage (page views, rough device type) — never taps, notes, or anything you log.
- No location, contacts, photos, or anything else from your device.
On your device
Taps you make offline are held in your browser’s local storage until they sync. Your email address is remembered only if you tick that box on the login page, and your theme choice is stored the same way. All of it is cleared by logging out or by the reset page.
Shared buttons
If you share buttons with someone using an invite code, they can see the taps in them and who logged each one. They cannot see your other buttons. Only the owner of a set of buttons can see members’ email addresses.
Your data
You can export any buttons to CSV at any time from the summary screen. Deleting your account removes your buttons and taps.
